The woodland that is our wild place sits at the end of the road. It is part of the Bielgrange farm, where we live. We had assumed that it was a comparatively young plantation resulting from some farm diversification in the 1970s / 80s.
It sits directly beside the extensive woodland of the Biel estate and straddles the Biel burn. There are similarities between the two neighbouring woodlands – they have similar species including beech trees of similar girth. So it may be older.
